Odwalla Inc, a company owned by Coca-Cola, is voluntarily recalling their Chocolate Protein Monster drinks with “enjoy before” dates prior to and including May 23rd after four people with peanut allergies have come forward with illnesses related to the products.

Odwalla is working with the FDA to investigate the cause of the reactions but are unsure of the source, considering these specific drinks do not contain peanuts or tree nut ingredients.

The recall includes all 12-ounce bottles (UPC Code: 14054 13509), 32-ounce bottles (UPC Code: 14054 13504) and variety packs (UPC Code: 0 14054 26659 6) distributed nationwide with the enjoy before dates indicated above. The variety packs were sold exclusively at Costco.

The company says people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts and/or tree nuts may run the risk of a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume the drink.

If you purchased the products, you can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

If you have concerns about the recall, you can call Odwalla at 1-800-639-2552 between 9:00 am and 5:30 pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday.
