Parmesan Garlic Triscuits Review

These aren’t exactly new on the market, but with Nabisco’s recent decision to discontinue its much-maligned cheddar-flavored Triscuits, I thought I would give them a second try. Nabisco seems prone to hits and misses when it comes to Triscuit flavors; some are great, others not so much.

I loved these crackers. They combine the classic savory goodness of woven wheat with a perfect blend of parmesan cheese and garlic flavors. It seems as though Nabisco put quite a bit of effort into fusing the two flavors perfectly; neither one overpowers the other. They complement each other very well. Unlike the now-defunct cheddar Triscuits, which were overloaded with flavor that seemed to belong on a deep-fried corn chip rather than a baked wheat cracker, the blend of garlic and parmesan didn’t drown out the wheat.

The one complaint I would make about these crackers is that they’re a bit too heavy on the salt. I think Triscuit could have reduced the sodium levels somewhat, as the parmesan cheese and garlic seasonings add a lot of flavor, making tons of salt unnecessary. But the fact that I ate an entire box of these in a single sitting tells me two things: first, I need to start watching my sodium intake; second, they were pretty darn tasty.
