Ritz have released a new line of pretzel crackers. They have a huge campaign on television with commercials advertising this new product. Their claims are that it is like a Ritz cracker combined with a pretzel to create a great snack.

The Visuals

The box is nice and classic. The crackers themselves are a darker brown than the original. There is a bit of salt on the top of each cracker.

The Smell

The smell of the crackers are salty and buttery.

The Taste

The flavor of the crackers were the interesting part. At first you get the crunch of a pretzel, but as you chew you get the fake buttery flavor of Ritz crackers. The texture is very dry and crunchy. It was an uncomfortable experience eating them because it was not what we expected. They were neither pretzels, nor were they crackers. Frankly we thought they were gross.

Nutritional Facts

The crackers are low calorie, with 10 crackers per 90 calories. They have 3.5 grams of fat and 230 mg of salt. Pretzels are made by dipping the dough in ammonia, and these have the ingredient on the label. Don’t be afraid because all good pretzels are made this way. There is no health risk from this ingredient.

Final Verdict

We would not repurchase these. We were disappointed they were not full pretzels but rather a Frankenstein combination with Ritz crackers. They lacked the classic chunky salt and had a gross buttery flavor that stayed in your mouth.

3/10 (And that’s being generous!)
