Finally we have come to the last episode in the Worst Cooks In America Season 3. It has been a fun journey, with Chef Anne’s dancing and Bobby’s jokes with the cooks. This has been one of the most entertaining food shows on tv and I’m sad to see it go.

Last Episode

Last week had Melissa Rhodes being sent home on the Blue team, and David Shelton sent home for the Red team.

The Current Teams

Anne Burrell with the red team champion:
Kelly Powes

Bobby Flay with the blue team champion:
Vinnie Caligiuri

The Finale Challenge

As always, the final task in the Worst Cooks series is to prepare the meal of their lives. Three top judges would taste their meals and determine the winner. That person would receive $25,000 and title of the Best Worst Cook in America.

The judges that would be determining the winner were Marcus Samuelsson, Susan Feniger, and David Burke. Marcus Samuelsson was recently titled the Chopped All Stars Champion.

Each of the competitors had to prepare a three-course meal with the guidance of their chefs. Kelly Powers made a sweet potato rolled crab cake for her appetizer. Her main course was a t-bone steak with roasted cauliflower topped with a poached egg. Her dessert was a mini apple pie, with caramel sauce.

Vinnie Caligiuri made a yellow tail tartar with bacon dressing for his appetizer. His main course was a squab with marsala sauce, and a broccoli rabe risotto. His dessert was a pistachio crème brulee.

The cooks had to go shopping for their ingredients and learn how to properly use a grocery store. It was a surprisingly difficult task, as they had a stocked pantry throughout the other episodes.

They each were able to have a full practice run with their chef. After that they would be cooking alone in a professional kitchen.

Results

The judges thought Vinnie’s tartar was the best dish out of the entire evening. Unfortunately, his brulee did not fully set and was very runny.

Kelly had trouble on her sweet potato rolls both in practice and in the final round. Her steak was not cooked evenly, but she finally managed to make delicious cauliflower.

Both chefs had come amazingly far in their cooking. In the end it was Kelly Powers who was named champion, and this is the third season with Chef Anne winning.
