Pure Flavor Fresh Vegetables Recalled Over Listeria Concerns

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning consumers about possible listeria contamination with certain Pure Flavor Fresh Cut Grillers. The specific products affected by the recall include the Asparagus Blend, Rustic Blends, Premium Medley and Steak Topper trays with expiration dates August 11 to August 26, 2012.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the recalled products, which were made by Leamington, Ontario-based Pure Hothouse Foods Inc. The products have been distributed all across Ontario and may have made their way to other provinces within Canada.

Symptoms of Listeriosis include high fever, headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Elderly individuals, children, those with weakened immune systems and pregnant women are at greater risk of experiencing severe illness if infected. Listeriosis can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or stillbirth for pregnant women.
