A fundraiser for next years 4th of July party has set the record for world’s most expensive pie. Auctioned off for $3,100, the peanut-butter banana pie is being analysed by the Guinness officials for legitimacy.

The auction took place in Rich Hill, Missouri. The small town raises funds for its annual 4th of July party by hosting pie auctions and inviting local celebrities. The future world record pie was baked by Jara Mumma and purchased by her grandfather, Jerry Mumma. The pie is described as rich and creamy, with a salty pretzel crust. The winner of the auction never got to try it however, as his wife passed it out for the crowed to try.

The auction was recorded by a professional camera crew to document the record breaking event. The auction sold 48 pies and raised over $10,000 for next years celebration. Guinness Records will take 4 weeks to get back to the community with their decision.
