Morgan Foods Issues Class II Recall on Corn Chowder Soup

Morgan Foods Inc. is issuing a Class II recall on their corn chowder soup product. Two consumers have reported pieces of pens inside the containers. A class II Recall is issued for situations where a product can cause temporary health consequences. Serious health affects are remote but a possibility. These recalled products may contain small metal fragments. The products being recalled are:

  • 18.8 oz. cans of Hill Country Fare Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder
  • 18.8 oz. cans of Wegman’s Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder
  • 18.8 oz. cans of Chef’s Cupboard Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder
  • 18.8 oz. cans of America’s Choice Chicken Corn Chowder Chunky

All recalled products have a best-by date of 01 Mar 2014 stamped onto the bottom of the cans. Consumers can also find the cans packaged in groups of 12 with a case code of B2912. The products have been shipped to Texas, New York, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

There have been no reports of any person affected by the plastic pieces in the recall. Customers who have purchased the product are urged to immediately discard it or bring it in the place of purchase for a full refund. If digestion of the plastic has occurred, please contact your healthcare provider immediately.
