Molson Coors today unveiled their new wide mouth aluminum beer cans. They will be made from 100% recycled materials. The wide mouth will create and easy drinking experience that is perfect for these hot summer days. The bottles will have a resealable lid and reusable packaging. A representative at the Molson Coors factory told us to look out for the bottles in Ontario in the next few weeks.

This new bottle format is the first in a line of different innovations. A $13.5 million investment allowed for the development of a flexible production line. This will allow their factories to be altered to fit new bottle shapes without the added cost of refurbishment.

This investment is added to a long history of installations in Ontario. In 2011 they added new fermentation tanks to their Toronto factory. Since 2010 their factories have generated over $90 million in capital investments.

The new bottle innovation will help generate jobs and strengthen the local economy. Rob Ford, mayor of Toronto, said that “Today’s opening of the flexible packaging line will help to ensure the Molson Coors Toronto Brewery continues to be a fixture at one of Toronto’s busiest intersections, as it has been for over 50 years.”

Look for our review of the bottle once it hits the stores.
