Last episode of MasterChef had Frank Mirando heading home after a souffle battle with Josh Marks. The final three contestants are Josh Marks, Christine Ha, and Becky Reams. This episode was the first of two finale shows, the second of which airs next Tuesday.
The final Mystery Box challenge had the secret ingredients of: their very own cookbook! The winner of MasterChef will get the chance to write their very own cookbooks. The chefs had any ingredients they liked to make their signature entree that could be featured in their cookbook.
Becky Reams made a fish dish, but badly butchered the filets. Gordon Ramsay came by her station and saw only two tiny pieces cooking which was not nearly enough for a meal. She switched it up and decided to make a fish soup. The judges thought that her portion was small, and the fish was dry and overcooked.
Josh Marks made a cornish hen curry with amazing spices. The judges thought that his dish was beyond amazing. Graham Elliot even gave him a high five!
Christine Ha made a noodle dish with her signature flavours. The judges thought that her dish was perfect. They were impressed with her flavours and the sear on her scallops.
The winner for this Mystery Box was Christine. The final elimination challenge was for each chef cooking a different dish. Christine’s reward was picking her dish, and Josh would pick next. The theme was “legs”. Christine chose to cook chicken legs. Josh chose to cook lamb legs. That meant Becky had to cook frog legs.
There was another surprise as all the previously eliminated chefs came back to cheer the chefs on.
Christine made a fried chicken and creamed kale. The judges thought her dish was delicious. They said her seasoning was perfect and the chicken was still moist. They thought her kale was too creamy.
Becky made butter fried frogs legs with salad. The judges thought her dish was ok, but not great. She cooked her potatoes with wine which made them very soggy.
Josh made lamb stuffed yucca. The judges thought his dish was very risky but it paid off. Joe Bastianich said that it was something he’s never tried but he was astounded at how good it was.
In the end it was Becky who was eliminated. It was hard to see her go because she was such a strong competitor. The final two chefs are Christine and Josh.
Do you think Becky should have been eliminated?
