Last week, fan favorite Monti Carlo was eliminated.

The Challenge

The challenge this week had three guest judges join the panel. The guests were Chef Guy Savoy, Chef Daniel Boulud, and Chef Alain Ducasse. They, along with our normal judges, would decide the fate of these final four contestants.

The chefs would be divided into teams. As Christine had won last week, she would ultimately choose the sides. Christine paired herself with Becky, which meant that Josh would be with Frank. Each team had to make a three course meal for the six judges.

Christine and Becky went with an Asian inspired meal. Their appetizer course was a hot ginger broth soup. The broth would cook the raw seafood, giving a light and refreshing course. The entree was a fried duck, except the skin never crisped up and the fat was not rendered. The dessert was a tropical fruit parfait.

Josh and Frank went with a gourmet American style meal. Their appetizer was a vegetable terrine, except it was obvious they had never made one properly before. The result was flavorless and packed with too much jelly. Their entree was a fabulous roasted lamb dish that the judges loved. They went down again with dessert, with a failed strawberry chocolate mousse.

The girls won 2/3 dishes and they were safe.

The Pressure Test

Josh and Frank had a brutal elimination challenge. Gordon Ramsay told them it was almost impossible to do. They had to make three different souffles and have them ready for the same time to present. They each had to make a white cheddar souffle, a raspberry souffle, and a dark chocolate souffle. They had all the ingredients they would need and just enough time to do it.

Josh ended up behind and put his souffles in with half the time they needed to cook. He cranked up the heat and somehow they weren’t a soupy mess. The decision came down to flavor, texture, and appearance. Josh had a good cheese souffle, a perfect raspberry souffle, and a flavorful chocolate souffle. Frank had a perfect cheese souffle, a flavorful raspberry souffle, and a good chocolate souffle.

It was decided that Josh won and would be part of the final three. In a surprise decision, Frank was sent home. The final three contestants are Josh Marks, Christina Ha, and Becky Reams.
