Last episode had Stacey Amagrande eliminated from MasterChef 2012.
There was a major surprise this week as the contestants were told they were getting time off. Instead, the eight most recently eliminated would be fighting for a spot back in the competition. The competitors brought back are Tali, Tanya, Anna, Scott, Mike, Stacey, Ryan, and Josh. Each of the previously eliminated cooks had the opportunity to choose one mystery box ingredient in the hopes of getting back in the competition. There is only one spot to go so the competition was fierce.
The Mystery Box Challenge
The secret ingredients were a very strange mix of things. There were pork chops, chocolate, mushrooms, and milk. The six non-eliminated chefs watched from upstairs as the hopefuls did their best performances yet. As judging commenced, half the contestants were immediately eliminated. We said good bye once again to Tali, Tanya, Anna and Scott. Out of the last four, it was Ryan and Josh who were chosen to continue in one final battle. That meant Cowboy Mike and Stacey were eliminated once again.
The Elimination Challenge
The final test to see who would be returning to MasterChef had Ryan and Josh battling head to head in a pressure test. Both the chefs would have to bake one perfect tart. Their filling was up to them. It turned out to be a very difficult challenge. Ryan was thrown off his game because he had never baked a tart before. They both finished with just seconds to spare.
There was another surprise this episode. The judges would not be choosing the winner- the contestants would. The non-eliminated chefs would have a blind taste-test and would be choosing who would come back in the game. The decision was unanimous though- it would be Josh. He made his tart with exotic fruits and it was superior over Ryan’s classic tart.
It was a great decision because I feel like Josh went home early. His passion and skills could take him to the top.
Do you agree with the decision to bring Josh back?
