The challenge this week in MasterChef 2012 had the cooks feeding a bunch of good ol’ cowbows. Monti and Frankie were on the top on the last competition and were the team leaders this challenge. Monti chose a team of underdogs thinking they would be working the hardest in the challenge. Frankie chose a team of winners. Gordon Ramsay then announced that sometimes in life we don’t get what we want. He then made Monti and Frank switch teams!

Monti had a tough time working with Becky. Last episode we saw her speaking ill about Monti’s dish. They are both great cooks and direct competition so it is no surprise that they are at each others throats. Monti had Becky take control of the meat station to cook some beautiful 16 oz. steaks. Becky overcooked 1/4 of the steaks. Monti had a lot of trouble with her station. She chose to make a sweet potato mash and her team ran out after only a few cowboys. It took her team a long time to recover and they ended up losing.

The pressure test this week was a toughie. I’m a good cook and I don’t think I could have done it. They had 6 eggs and 20 minutes to make 4 dishes. One had to be a soft boiled egg, one was a sunny side up egg, one was a soft poached egg, and the last dish was a 3 egg omelet. Each had to be put in at the exact time in order to be ready at the right time. Felix was given immunity and did not have to take part in the challenge. Josh was unhappy with the decision and thought that he should have been immune instead. I have to agree. From what I saw on the episode, Josh did a great job helping his team. However, we only get to see a small part of what happened.

Everyone thought that Monti would crumble at this test. Through my interview with her, I know that she would have perfected cooking eggs for her son, Danger. So many of her recipes on the show have been ones she has perfected cooking for Danger. Like I thought, Monti rocked it. It was Josh who was sent home for an over poached egg and raw soft boiled egg.

Check out our recap tomorrow morning and hear what went down behind the scenes with David Martinez.
