Popular Contestant David Martinez Talks Masterchef 2012 Episode 9:
Arriving at the beach was awesome. Coming over the hill I’m thinking what in the world, then bang monster trucks of food greatness. Stacey Amagrande won the last challenge so she picks teams. Her and I got along pretty well so I figured she may pick me. She ends up picking Tali Clavijo, Frank Mirando and Becky Reams. Good team, possibly the winning team. She then puts me and Monti Carlo on the same team in a strategic move. Bottom line is, good job Stacey, I would have done the same thing. Monti and I had some divergent opinions on things in the days leading up to the challenge. We had all but been okay and knew to become better friends its best to not have to work in close quarters. So let me paint this picture, Anna Rossi is super quiet, Tanya Noble is super young then you have me and Monti speaking to each other so loud your ear drums crack. Anna didn’t have a chance. I fell in line and helped develop the menu- two burgers, one Caribbean, one Texas style. Sounds good I go to prepping the meat. I don’t know when this happened but all of a sudden it was decided one burger. One burger is that enough for us to win? Prep is ending, service is starting and there are no burgers cooked. I knew I wanted to make the burgers all to order. I don’t like food that sits around, neither does anyone else. So I wait. Time is called and service starts, I’m cooking the burgers as fast as I can, but it’s not good enough. The challenge ends and we await our fate.
Totals are called and the Red Team wins. I figured as much; tacos are awesome, but who wants to eat curry in the middle of a hot day? Apparently everyone because the blue team gets second place. Pressure test time. We head into the pressure test and I feel horrible, really because I was being called fat fingers the entire time. It weighs on you a little. Especially when your fat fingers have to make some sort of miniscule thing. I get to work and bang, best looking tortellini ever. At the end Anna Rossi went home. We missed her and know she’ll do awesome.
