Popular Contestant David Martinez Talks MasterChef 2012 Episode 15:
So here we are top 7 again. Man weren’t we just top six, I am not happy about this. I was 5 people away now six. So what to do, lets cook our heart out like last time. Mystery boxes never bother me, it is rare to get booted off. What does bother me is not having one a mystery boy yet. So we lift the box and it is prawns. Amazing little delish animals. What to make, I know, I’m going to make a ceviche. Amazing, what a great idea. I get to cooking and the grilling starts. Mar-tin-ez why are you cooking a sauce if you’re making a ceviche. It is my base sauce sir. Mar-tin-ez are you a joke in this competition? No sir, Im just going through a rough patch in my culinary life. Alright Mar-tin-ez good luck. Thank you sir.
I finish, time is called and I hope for the best. Sure enough I get called up to the top three. Its probably not my time yet. Im losing confidence and really need this, but Becky is tough. Nope, this time its me. Sweet Ive been waiting for this. I will not disappoint and use my advantage to its fullest potential. The advantage I get to pick the cooking ingredient, get 5 minutes alone in the pantry and taste three dishes with the ingredient. Okay lets choose, Bacon, Corn or beets. Lets make some corn dessert.
I get my time in the pantry and decide to make a corn-rice pudding. I have everything, Im ready to go. Im standing at the doors, and realize Ive forgotten my rice. What the hell, how could I have forgotten the rice? Who knows, bottom line is I forgot it and I had a back up plan. Corn pudding with atole. Awesome Ive made it before. So why if I had a plan B was I stuck on the rice?
I run around like a geek looking for rice and finally Becky, gives the rice up. I cook my rice pudding and soon the time is over. We step up and Josh, Felix and I are at the bottom. For sure it is my day. I was wrong again, Felix is eliminated. What a relief. Again extreme highs and lows, but I live to fight another day.
