Mango Recall Expands to Include Fruit Salads

The mango recall sparked by salmonella contaminated Daniella mangoes in Canada has expanded to include fruit salads. The initial recall was limited to Daniella mangoes sold in Western Canada. It then expanded to include all of Canada as well as some parts of the United States. Today, two more recalls were issued. One by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and one by the US Food and Drug Administration. Below you will find the details of each recall.

US – FDA Press Release – Garden Patch / Yoke’s Pineapple/Mango Pico de Gallo

Specific Product Information: This recall includes only 128/16ounce plastic containers of the refrigerated Pineapple/Mango Pico de Gallo. Each product bears a UPC code ”8869483987″ under the brand labels Garden Patch or Yoke’s.

Distribution: This product was distributed to 11 inland northwest supermarkets in Washington, Idaho and Montana.

These products use the Daniella Brand mangoes as an ingredient in the fruit salad.

Canada – Canadian Food Inspection Agency Press Release – Sobeys Tropical Fruit Salad

Specific Product Information: The affected product is Sobeys store-made Tropical Fruit Salad sold in 16oz containers.

Distribution: This product was sold only at the Sobeys store located at Southbrook Sobeys, 1109 James Mowatt Trail SW, Edmonton, Alberta . It was sold up to and including August 29, 2012.
