Jerusalem House Recall 2012: Hummus and Other Dip Products Recalled

If you’re spending this Memorial Day enjoying food with friends and family, you might want to be aware of this recall. Jerusalem House – a health foods company from Eugene Oregon – has issued a recall of all varieties and sizes of its Hummus, Baba Ghanouj, Grape Leaves, Black Bean Hummus, Salsa De Jardin and Tahini products due to the risk of chemical contaminent.

According to the press release, “The recalled products were distributed at all Market of Choice locations in Oregon (which includes Portland, Eugene, Corvallis, and Ashland), Friendly Street Market, (Eugene), Sundance Natural Foods (Eugene), Capella, (Eugene) and First Alternative Natural Foods Co8Op at 2855 Northwest Grant Avenue in Corvallis.”

The products were sold in 4, 6, 7 and 14-ounce clear plastic containers. The Original Tahini (which was packaged under the Earth Gourmet Foods brand) was sold in 14-ounce glass jars and 15 pound white plastic buckets. Original Tahini was sold directly to customers ordering the product from the firm.

No illnesses have been reported to date.
