Last week on Hell’s Kitchen 2012, Clemenza was eliminated for failing on his own Italian dinner service. We are down to the final four contestants: Barbie Marshall, Justin Antiorio, Christina Wilson, and Dana Cohen.

The Reward Challenge

The reward challenge this week had the chefs cooking on a budget. They were each given $15 and had to make an expensive looking dish with it. They would be judged on the perceived value of their dishes. The judges for this challenge were Chef David Lefevre (Manhattan Beach Post), editor Hugh Garvey (Bon Appetit) and Christian Philippo (Patina Restaurant Group). Justin made a shrimp dish, thinking that the seafood would rank well. His dish was given a value of $28.33. Barbie made a huge pork chop dish with sausage, and was rated $33. Dana made a halibut dish and was rated $34. Christina made a swordfish dish and was rated $33.67. It was Dana who won and she received reward.

The Reward

Dana’s reward was cooking with Chef David Lefevre and spending lunch with her family. Meanwhile, the rest of the contestants spent the day sorting through the dumpsters. Justin in particular had a hard time with the maggots and the smell of rotting meat. Barbie just laughed at him because as a mother, she would have smelt and touched way worse.

Dinner Service

With the finale close, Gordon Ramsay wanted to test the chefs ability to call the pass. Each chef would take a turn at the front of the kitchen, calling out orders and making sure the guests had high quality food. Gordon also had his own chefs sabotage some of the dishes to see if the contestants would catch the problem.

Justin went first and caught the quality control test. Crab was put in the pasta instead of lobster. He did have difficulty with Dana not hustling in the kitchen. Perhaps her time with her family took her head out of the game. Dana was up next and her quality control was sugar in the risotto. She didn’t catch it, even though she tasted it. Up next was Barbie, who started off rough. Barbie called out the orders to the guests and not to the kitchen. She soon got into the swing of things, and caught her quality control test. Her mashed potato was replaced with celeriac mash, but she refused to let it go out of the kitchen. Last was Christina, who easy controlled the kitchen. Christina also caught her test of arugula instead of spinach.

Elimination

Gordon Ramsay informed everyone that two people would be heading home. Barbie was the first to be eliminated, but the show ended before the second. It’s safe to say that Dana will also be eliminated. Justin and Christina had a perfect dinner service and were excellent at calling the pass. We’ll have to wait until next episode to see.
