Brooklyn-based company Euphoria Fancy Food Inc. is issuing a recall this week after it was revealed during a routine inspection that their DRIED BREAM fish was not properly eviscerated prior to processing.

The New York company wants consumers to know that the product may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum spores which can cause Botulism. Botulism is a potentially fatal food borne illness that can harm all individuals but becomes increasingly severe when attacking children, elderly individuals or those with weak immune systems.

Symptoms of the illness include blurred or double vision, poor reflexes, difficulty swallowing, respiratory paralysis and general weakness.

The product itself comes in an un-coded, 7.5 ounce vacuum-sealed bag. It was sold nationwide and is a product of Russia. The UPC number on the package is 7 930042 250954.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

Consumers with questions or concerns regarding this specific recall can call 718-768-3400.  Consumers who have purchased the fish can return it to the place where they bought it for a full refund.
