Dole Food, a fruit and vegetable company based in the US, has just announced the acquisition of Mrs. May’s Naturals – an all-natural snack company with annual revenues in 2011 of approximately $16 million.

The acquisition promises to bring in new customers to Dole’s already-successful brand and help position the company to become a world leader in all-natural snacks. Mrs. May’s Naturals is a family run business founded in 2002 which sells freeze-dried fruits, all-natural granola bars, fruit and nut toppers and more.

“Their all-natural snacks, which include vegan, gluten-free, and kosher options, fit perfectly with the Dole ‘Nutrition Plus’ product line which is designed to improve health and wellness through diet,” Dole Food Company CEO and President David DeLorenzo said about the investment, adding that Mrs. May’s Naturals “s a recognized name with proven results at major retailers.”

According to Dole Food, the packaging and distribution of Mrs. May’s Naturals products will remain the same but the company plans to seek opportunities for co-branding new products in the future.

The press release also noted that Mrs. May’s will be exhibiting their extensive product offerings at the upcoming Natural Products Expo West at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California March 9-11.
