Canadian residents are being warned by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency not to consume Daniella brand mangoes because they may contain salmonella.
The health alert was issued yesterday but certain brand and product information was not available at the time. Today, the CFIA released the name of the company (Daniella) and the specific product information.
The products affected by this recall include Daniella mangoes sold individually with the PLU 4959. They were sold at various retail establishments in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon. The mangoes were available in stores between July 12 and August 14 2012.
The CFIA notes that there have been several illnesses reported associated with the recall. No details were given as to whether any of the illnesses have led to hospitalization or death.
