REPORT: Scientific research published in France this week has many soda drinkers up in arms. The study reveals that popular products like Coco-Cola and Pepsi contain small amounts of alcohol.

While the findings reveal that the popular soft drinks contain only “minute traces of alcohol,” the news opens up a lot of concerns for individuals who choose not to consume alcohol for religious reasons. For many years, consumers have been under the impression that these beverages contain no alcohol and were, therefore, an acceptable choice for people of all religions.

In total, 19 colas were tested. The results showed that 9 of the 19 colas did not contain alcohol. Some of these brands include Auchan, Cora, Casino, Man U-Cola and Leader Price. The 10 brands that contained traces of alcohol include high profile products like Coca-Cola, Pepsi Cola, Coke Zero and Coca-Cola Classic Light.

Despite hard evidence that these notorious products contain small amounts of alcohol, the manufacturing companies insist they are “in line with the religious opinions of the Committee of the Mosque of Paris.”

Representatives from both Coca-Cola and Pepsi were quick to note that “natural fruit can ferment and produce minute traces of alcohol.”

Are you surprised to learn that products like Coca-Cola and Pepsi contain alcohol?
