Thirsty but don’t have enough change for a refreshing can of Coca-Cola? Students and faculty attending the National University of Singapore don’t have to worry about dehydration anymore: a Coke machine on campus has been designed to accept hugs instead of money.
That’s right folks, if you want to quench your thirst with a can of cold Coke, all you have to do is walk up to the machine, give it a big hug and collect your drink.
This is the latest initiative put forth by the marketing wizards at Coca-Cola in an effort to boost publicity surrounding their Happiness campaign. This particular machine is designed with the same colors as the Coca-Cola brand but, instead of the name of the company, it says “Hug Me.”
Last year, Coca-Cola was named the number one global brand for social media marketing by Covario.
The company hopes to retain its reputation for innovation and plans to continue to out-perform its competitors on a marketing level. Staying on top might be a difficult task though, considering Coke’s number 1 challenger, PepsiCo, just announced its plans to invest $600 million in marketing this year.
What do you think of the “Hug Me” vending machine? Would you embrace a Coke machine in exchange for a can of pop?
