Christine Ha is by far the fan favorite on MasterChef season 3. She is also known as the “blind chef” as she lost her eyesight from an autoimmune disorder called NMO, or Neuromyelitis optica. This hasn’t slowed her down at all though, as she is a very strong competitor. Everyone has been amazed at her determination and passion. Joe Bastianich has had a hard time with her on the show. He was concerned about her ability to work in a real kitchen. In the last episode Joe finally connected with her. Joe said that he finally understood how she could cook and plate so well. Joe said that when he tastes, he can see colors and shapes. This sounds like a form of synesthesia, which is not uncommon. Joe said that Christine must picture the plates in her mind and put it together with her hands.
