The beginning of episode 5 of The Biggest Loser started with contestants preparing for the event of their lifetime- meeting Michelle Obama. She walked in laughing and smiling at how excited she was to meet everyone and introduced the contestants to her “Let’s Move” initiative. One in three children in the United States are overweight or obese. Having excess weight as a child increases their chance of weight related diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure. She feels it is her responsibility to protect the American children by increasing the education around healthy living. The “Let’s Move” campaign is to get children and families excited about healthy nutrition and exercise.
Bob let everyone know that Michelle Obama is the perfect example of the “No Excuse” idea. She is busy being the First Lady but she still finds time to work out every day. Everyone changed into workout clothes and Mrs. Obama joined in with the contestants and their families exercising.
